A lot of shoes are made from leather, if the shoes are not 100% leather then at least some part of the shoe will be made from leather. You can get shoes that have been produced with man made soles and leather uppers or you can get shoes that have leather soles and man made uppers and you can also get shoes 100% that are made out of man made materials, but leather shoes have been around for thousands of years.

Shoes have been made of leather for thousands of years. The leather that goes into making shoes comes from leather that originally came from the skin or hide of an animal.

Shoe leather comes mainly from cattle. Hides are taken from the animal at point of slaughter, usually at a modern abattoir. The hide is first salted as decomposition starts straight away. Then the hide goes through several processors that dictate the hardness or softness of the leather. When making a pair of shoes you need tough hard leather for the soles, you might need a mixture soft and stiff leather for the uppers.

As a hide is only so big you can only make a limited amount of shoes from that hide so a style of shoe may be made in the thousands but in reality leather shoes are quite unique as no to hides are identical even if the leather has followed a strict process their will still be differences.

Shoes made from leather allow your feet to breathe so that your feet can stay at a more even temperature. Because your feet can breathe you feet will not sweat at much and therefore there will be less chance that your feet will smell.

A pair of shoes has to be able to keep you supported whether you are walking, running or skipping your way down the street therefore it is very important that when you are buying a pair of shoes you buy the best you can afford.
